How to Make Fresh Rose Hip Tea

I love drinking tea when I’m in my studio making jewelry. I find it so relaxing and it helps me stay focused and hydrated!

When you go for a walk, you might see some of these brightly coloured ends on rose bushes. They are the fruit of a rose, and appear after the roses have bloomed. They are high in Vitamin A and C, and have plenty of health benefits. You can use rose hips to make jam, syrup, juice, and even facial astringents. I’m using mine to make tea, which I think is the most common way they are used.

Step 1

Cut off the ends of the rose hips.

Step 2

Cut into smaller sections and scrape out the seeds. You can discard the seeds or plant them! Rose hips can vary in size so you might not need to cut yours into smaller sections if they are on the smaller side.

Step 3

After chopping up the rose hips into smaller pieces, put them into a loose tea strainer. I used about a tablespoon for a single cup of tea. Pour boiling water into your cup and let it sit for about 7 minutes. I like to add a bit of honey to sweeten it. Healthy, tasty and natural!

Sundog Craft Fair

Things have been really busy with the production side of Soulfari as I sold almost everything at the Sundog Craft Fair in December.  I wanted to post something about it as it was such a great experience!  It was my first time there and the other vendors were so supportive.  It was so wonderful to see old friends and meet new ones.  Thanks to everyone who stopped by!

Channelling Your Inner Blue Steel

We’ve been really busy these last couple of weeks doing photo shoots all over Saskatoon, SK. The models who were featured in our late summer campaign, Michelle and Kaitlin, were really fun to work with and looked great!  Stacie Carr Photography was really creative and had a great eye for producing a polished image.  Rochelle Haubrich did the hair for the first photo shoot and she was able to create the exact look we were going for, with her own unique touch.  Blaine Rene also worked on the first shoot and did the makeup for our models.  We were amazed at her talent -she puts the artist in makeup artist!

Stay tuned to see more shots in our upcoming campaigns!

Aug 3rd, 2013 – DIY Dyeing Feathers

I was doing some spring cleaning in my studio this afternoon and I came across some yellow feathers I had purchased a while ago. (I have nothing against the colour yellow, but I just had a lot of it!) I thought I could hand dye them along with some white feathers I had, so I could have a bunch of custom colours to work with while creating various pieces.  I love colour and it is definitely a big part of my inspiration.  It was cool to see the yellow feathers change into emerald greens and golden browns.  It was my type of afternoon! xo, Sarah
